Gary Thomas is a retired marketing/sales executive. He worked over 40 years in the electrical industry. As a freelance writer, Gary has authored more than 100 articles on sales, marketing and management topics. He has an MBA from Rutgers University. He served in the U.S. Army, as a Portuguese linguist, and at the National Security Agency. He recently retired as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Edith Wheeler Memorial Library and is a volunteer at the West Haven, CT VA Hospital.

When referring to being in an argument, our imagination may envision an animated verbal battle in which accusations, insults and elevated blood pressure are natural side effects. Though such emotional conditions are possible, the true definition of an argument suggests engaging in civil discourse in an effort to solve problems and make decisions.
