Planning Your Website

Your website is a virtual front door to your business. All too often, sites either launch with little thought just to get "something up" or they never launch, stuck behind a mountain of questions about what to do and how to do it. If your website is still in the concept stage or you want to revamp the one you have, this workshop is for you.

Planning Your Website provides attendees with the fundamentals necessary for planning, creating and launching an effective website. It explains essential elements from domain names to user experience. It leads attendees through a set of questions they need to ask themselves and answer during the planning stage.  The presenter will also cut through the jargon of website designers, developers and hosting companies to help you move ahead with confidence.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to determine the role your website will play in your business
  • The pros and cons of building the site yourself vs. hiring a professional; and, what are realistic expectations and costs
  • What different site-building platforms (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify) offer
  • How to select a designer/developer, what to expect to pay and what to expect in return
  • Ways a website can support and enhance a business, regardless of product or service

Bonus: Attendees will walk away with a set of questions and an action checklist to guide their next steps for meeting realistic goals at predictable costs.
