The SCORE Workshop: Simple Steps to GROWING your business.
This SCORE hands-on workshop will give attendees an appreciation of what it takes to successfully grow a small business.  Drawn from the actual experiences of seasoned entrepreneurs and business leaders, this workshop is designed to addresses how in-business clients can develop new growth strategies for their businesses.

  • Evaluate your business with a SWOT Analysis
  • Identify critical success metrics for your business and distinguish between leading and lagging indicators 
  • How to obtain critical metrics and how often you should review them.

Your Presenter: Chris Jacobson


Chris Jacobson has more than a decade of professional work experience focused on developing technical tools that facilitate distributed entrepreneurship and advising entrepreneurs on strategy and capital decisions. He currently leads an Amazon product team developing and managing software for small businesses around the world. Previously, Chris worked for ZenPayroll (now Gusto), developing payroll solutions for small-to-medium enterprises.

 The county’s largest small business event will return May 3 this year when up to 300 local business owners will gather at Cabrillo College to collaborate, share ideas, and learn how to grow their business from leading entrepreneurship experts. A project of the Santa Cruz County Office for Economic Development, this year’s event will feature a range of speakers on topics including social media marketing, startup technologies, managing cash flow, working with millennials, lead generation and more. “We’re building on the success of last year’s Micro Business Summit with even more exciting speakers and topics,” says Barbara Mason, Economic Development Coordinator for the County of Santa Cruz.
