In the last few years "starting lean" has become the preferred business plan of thousands of entrepreneurs, universities, accelerators and groups inside big organizations.
Using a lean canvas template (provided at workshop) research, brainstorm and refine your business idea before you spend energy and money on an concept that might not succeed. The lean startup business plan consists of several iterations of your new idea, product or service that you will keep refining until it fits your customer’s needs and until you feel confident it will work.

Whether you are just considering starting a business or your are in business already but considering adding a new service or a new product, this workshop will save you money, time and energy.

Key Topics:

  1. List your target customers and users.
  2. List your customers’ top 3 problems.
  3. Define your revenue streams.
  4. Outline your solution for each problem.
  5. Design a unique value proposition message.
  6. List your paths to finding your customers.
  7. List the key numbers indicating how your business is doing.
  8. List your fixed and variable costs.
  9. What is your unfair advantage, what makes your business not easily copied.

 Learning Outcomes:

To capture your business idea with your first canvas. During this workshop you will create your own canvas in 20-30 minute exercises which you will be able to refine through several iterations later. The point of this exercise is to get a more focused idea on the feasibility of your business driven by solving your customer’s problems.

Presenter: 

Patricia Bottero St-Jean is an International Business Advisor and Speaker with over three decades of experience in the sector of small to midsize enterprise (SME) ownership. A native France, Bottero St-Jean began her entrepreneurial journey 34 years ago when she immigrated to the US to start a small business which she grew for 25 years creating jobs for a team of 50. Today, Bottero is also founder of OPEN FOR BUSINESS, LLC a consulting practice that provides services, workshops, and webinars for individuals who are exploring business ownership and for owners who wish to scale their enterprise. She advises her clients with business research, business plans, and executive coaching to start, grow, and scale your business successfully. Her educational background includes a BA in Political Economy –  from UC Berkeley and an MBA CSUEB.  Bottero also volunteers at SCORE in coordinating the workshops provided to the small business community.
