OMG! You just witnessed a terrible accident. What should you do?

East Manatee Fire Rescue's Lt. Chris Galbraith has been first-on-scene many, many times, often before EMS arrives. He has agreed to share his first-hand, first responder experiences and knowledge to help CERT members be better prepared to help.

Attend the March 13th General Meeting and you’ll learn:

  • How to react if you’re first on the scene of an auto accident, car-bike crash or witnessing someone having a heart attack
  • If you should get involved, legal protections for Good Samaritans, and when not to get involved
  • What to do until help arrives including how to identify hazards and size-up the scene for safety
  • Important ways to manage and use bystanders
  • When to call 911 and what information to provide
  • What to do when First Responders arrive including information to provide EMS

We’ll also discuss how to assemble a triage kit for your vehicle – what you should include and what not to include.

Bring your curiosity and questions; there will be time for discussion and Q&A with Lt. Galbraith.

Lieutenant Chris Galbraith

East Manatee Fire Rescue District

Lt. Galbraith has been a member of the East Manatee Fire Rescue District for 14 years.  As an engineer, he was named 2014 Firefighter of the Year by the Board of Fire Commissioners.

Lt. Galbraith has been an instructor at many of our CERT Basic Training courses over the years, and many of our members attended training with him in the fire training classroom.
