The AFA Gabriel Chapter wants to let you know about two speakers at our AFA Community Partner, the Cold War Museum. The two speakers are Mr. Gene Eisman, the Museum;s expert on Soviet and Amercian aviation during thd Cold War and a national authoriity on the Cold War space race, and Mr. Chris Sturdevant, a historian and Chairman of the MIdwest Chapter of the Cold War Museum.
Gene Eisman, co-athor of Epic Rivalry: The Inside Story of The Soviet and American Space Race (National Geographic, Washington, DC, 2007), will present this compettion in a way you haven't heard before. Epic Rivalry tells the story from both the American and Russian points of view, and shows how each space-faring nation played a vital role in stimulating the work of the other. He'll cover the "paralllel universes" of the two space exploration programs, wtth visionaries Werner von Braun and Sergei Korolev and political leaders John F. Kennedy and Nifkia Khrushchev at the epicenters.
Chris Sturdevant, autor of Cold War Wisconsin, will discuss the Cold War in a local context. Discover why Joseph Stalin's only daughter settled in rural Wisconsin, how small Lake Michigan towns are forever linked to the USS Pueble and a Sputnik crash, and other Badger Sate coneections to the larger Cold War conflict aboard.

The museum has requested that AFA members SIGN UP for tickets IN ADVANCE, so that the museum can plan for the number of attendees with Old Bust Head.
The timeline is:
* 1230-1300 - Participants arrive; they may get their beer or other drink at this time.
* 1300-1310 - Jason Hall, Executive Director of the Cold War Museum, introduces the Museum and Gene Eisman and Christ Sturdevant.
* 1310 -1415 - Gene presents on the Space Race, and Chris on the Cold War in Wisconsin.
* 1415-1500 - Q&A opportunity for the audience.
* 1500-1515 - Audience members may claim their beer or other drink at this time or buy additional drinks.
* 1515-1615 - The Museum (next door) will be open for event participants, with staff providing a tour for those interested.
The cost is $35, including the presentation; a $7 coupon toward a craft beer draft, Kombucha, or other drink; a $10 contribution to the Cold War Museum; and special access to the Museum (next door) for the events participants following the presentation. Tickets at the door, if available, will be $45.
