Spring "Landscapes in Progress"

John & Jo Pine's Lookout Mountain garden is the location of the spring "Landscapes in Progress" garden visit for members of the Tennessee Valley Chapter of Wild Ones.

This program is an opportunity for education, promotion and encouragement of native plant gardening, as well as Wild Ones member appreciation.

Rather than a traditional "garden tour" where everything is perfect, Landscapes in Progress is an event where members -- host and visitor -- can ask questions, share information about their own endeavors, and spend time with others dedicated to landscaping with native species.

The Pines' garden has been "in progress" for 90 years!  It 1.25 acre lot has a gentle slope with numerous large boulders and near surface rocks.  The landscaping over the years has been very intentional, and John suspects that a professional has helped with the many rock steps that allow one to move from lower elevations to higher parts of the yard.  There are many hardwoods (oaks, hickory along with dogwoods and a few pines) and the limited grass areas are focused on flat parts of the yard.  There are specific areas of the yard that are placed within large oak leaf hydrangea as well as azaleas and Rhododendron.  John has been adding native plants to the landscape and will share information about what's being done.

You're also invited to have lunch, beginning at 12:00pm, with other members of Wild Ones on the patio at the Pines' home. If you have special dietary needs, you're welcome to bring your food...but stay for lunch!
Please indicate your lunch plans when you register.

Registration for this event is FREE and is limited to 20 members. Sign up now to ensure your slot.

Registrants will receive the itinerary, garden description and driving directions once registration is complete. As always, consider carpooling with other members who've signed up for this wonderful members-only event.

Registration for this event automatically closes when it is full.  If you would like for your name to be added to the waiting list, in case of cancellations, please email us using the address on the left.
