Caring for Others and Yourself: Suicide Prevention and Assessment by Jordan Hearod, PhD, MPH
Brookhaven Hospital invites you to its April 2019 Professional Seminar Series.
Due to a last minute drop out, we will no longer be hosting "Adlerian Play Therapy Techniques." In its place, Jordan Hearod, PhD, MPH will present Caring for Others and Yourself: Suicide Prevention and Assessment.
In this presentation we will discuss both risk and protective factors for suicidal behavior and examine screening and assessment tools. We will also discuss compassion fatigue an vicarious trauma and ways to avoid or cope with both issues.
Goals of the presentation are to:
- Promote evidence-based management of persons presenting as at risk for suicide
- Identify critical decision points for screening and assessment for management of persons at risk for suicide
- Give a working knowledge of Compassion Fatigue (CF) and Vicarious Trauma (VT)
- Educate on appropriate self-care and provide practical ways to mitigate the trauma that is experienced through client care
- Provide assessment tools to determine your level of exposure to VT
