In this presentation, Regina will describe the gamer types she discovered during her dissertation research and how they intersect with the MBTIŽ Types and Jungian function attitudes. The audience will help identify the gamer types and their MBTIŽ Types through video interview clips. This interactive program will feature discussions of identity and gaming, and will also unpack how gaming and game experiences can be central to one’s identity.
Participants will take away from this session:
- Insights about the games and game genres you are interested in and how that relates to MBTIŽ Type
- Ways to use games as another means of communication with clients, students, etc.
- Observations about how people talk about their game experiences and how they relate to their identity

ABOUT REGINA Regina McMenomy received her Ph.D. in American Studies from Washington State University. Her research interests focus around gender identity and digital role-playing games. Recently, she’s expanded how she looks at gaming and identity to include the MBTIŽ Types and the Jungian Function Attitudes. Currently an instructor in technical writing and Women’s Studies at Washington State University in Vancouver, WA, she is also the Executive Editor of The Geek Embassy, a dynamic learning community focused on discussions about geek culture. You can listen her podcast, Game on Girl, to hear interviews with women in the game industry and more in-depth discussions of identity and gaming. Regina also volunteers as a club coordinator for Girls Who Code at the Vancouver Public Library, helping to build confidence and sisterhood with girls in junior high and high school. She has INFP preferences.
