GREEN ROOF SYSTEMS

with John Thomas of Siplast 

Join CSI East Bay-Oakland for our April chapter meeting, featuring a presentation titled "Green Roof Systems", with roofing expert John Thomas of Siplast.

PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION: Green roof systems are typically described in terms of soil depth (intensive vs. extensive) or where they are assembled (built-in-place vs. modular). These are useful categories, but don’t address key elements of green roof design, such as drainage, water storage, roof slope, and other considerations. This presentation will review different green roof systems and components, and their use in meeting project goals relating to storm water management, integration with hardscape, and constructability. 

John M. Thomas - Waterproofing Division Manager, Siplast, Inc. 

John Thomas has over 35 years of experience in the roofing/waterproofing business. He has been employed by Siplast for 31 years. John began his career with Siplast in the roofing division, then was responsible for forming the waterproofing division in 1991. His responsibilities include sales, marketing, and technical aspects of the liquid-applied waterproofing/green roof business for Siplast in the United States. During his tenure, Thomas has been responsible for introducing several products/technologies originally marketed in Europe into the United States, including: plaza deck and green roofing membranes, liquid-applied waterproofing products, and bridge deck waterproofing product technologies. He resides in Ft. Worth, Texas, and works at the Siplast corporate headquarters.
