Lewis Griggs was the co-host of our series Is There Life After Death? and then the original host of Life, Death Near Death and Beyond, which presents individuals who share their experiences and guide discussion of many other equally spiritually-transformational out-of-body experiences that both include and go beyond an “official” definition of NDE’s.

Lewis’ first NDE occurred in the Bay Area in March 1977 as a result of a car crash. He left his body behind. Entering another dimension of “pure grace,” he found “complete oneness with everything that ever was or ever will be.”  It took him into the Light and a Conversation with God, in which he was told, “Lewis, you have been called her to have this conversation and to be sent back because you are not doing your work.” Thus, he was called to his Life's Purpose, becoming a founding leader of Cultural Diversity in the workplace since 1982.  

His second closer-to-death experience was in June of 1997. A 100-foot tree landed on his head as he was whitewater rafting, resulting in a severe left-frontal-lobe Traumatic Brain Injury and 8-day coma. After regaining consciousness he was unable to read or write, walk or talk and did not recognize his parents, siblings, children, friends—or even himself!

Only a 10 to 50% recovery plateau was estimated. However, three years of hospital rehabilitation got him to recovery at a 70% level, and now, after seventeen years of progressive recovery, he is 90% recovered. His learnings from a natural process of Mind, Body & Spirit recovery has enabled Lewis to help others understand the opportunity for growth and gratitude in their own recovery process, from whatever the crisis.

Of his two experiences, he says, “Our greatest weaknesses, our greatest ignorances, our greatest holes in our whole self, are our greatest opportunities. These become our most authentic of strengths, and the most authentic expression of our inner self.  We are all the same...and uniquely different..."

Lewis Griggs was born of direct Mayflower heritage into privileged American aristocracy, and his lifestyle reflected that ethnocentric value system. During his NDE, Lewis discovered that we are on earth to fulfill a particular Purpose, and that he had not been on the right path.
