Individuals with Down syndrome learn to ride a bicycle!
Achieved in just 5 days by attending camp 75 minutes each day.

The iCan Bike program teaches riders to balance, pedal, steer, and take off on their own, many in five days or less – a feat parents say is miraculous.

Years of research, months of planning by Triangle Down Syndrome Network, and hours of volunteers ‘spotting’  lead to your loved one attaining confidence to last a lifetime!

Application Process:

  • Apply online through June 14th
  • Receive notification of available time slot June 18th
  • iCan Bike Registration Day June 22nd:
    • Complete registration forms
    • Individuals with Down syndrome - $100 refundable deposit
    • Individuals with other Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities - non-refundable $275 payment
    • Bike and helmet fitting
  • Parent or guardian attends information session on July 14th
  • Rider attends camp daily for 75 minutes July 15th - July 19th
  • Deposit refunded after completion of camp

Individuals with Down syndrome - camp is FREE.
Individuals with other Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities - $275 paid by June 22nd. Preference for camp slots is given to individuals with Down syndrome.

Campers must attend the same 75 minute time slot everyday, Monday through Friday, for five days. Available time slots:

  • 8:30 am - 9:45 am
  • 10:05 am - 11:20 am
  • 11:40 am - 12:55 pm
  • 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm
  • 3:35 pm- 4:50 pm

iCan Bike Requirements:

  • Minimum age - 8 years old
  • Have a disability (camp slot preferences for individuals with Down syndrome)
  • Able to walk without assistive device
  • Willing and able to wear a properly fitted bike helmet
  • Able to sidestep to both sides
  • Able to attend camp all 5 days
  • Maximum weight 220 lbs
  • Minimum inseam of 20" (measure from floor while rider is wearing sneakers)

Dropping off riders at the program is not permitted.  A parent, legal guardian, or other adult authorized to take responsibility for the rider must remain on site for the duration of the daliy 75-minute program.

Parent/guardian must attend a one hour information session on Sunday, July 14th. Riders should not attend the information session.
