Business Startup Basics

Overview:  This all-day introductory course covers the factors critical to successfully starting a new business.  It will aid you in making a go/no go decision and give you an overview of steps to follow if your decision is to proceed.

If you are already in business, it will continue your education to help you succeed.

You will learn and discuss:

  • What you need to start a new business, including an idea and skills
  • Critical success factors, including capital, experience and mentors
  • Myths and truths about starting a new business
  • What should be included in a business plan, and why it is important
  • Business structure, insurance and regulations
  • Your marketing plan
  • Use of social media
  • Financial planning, including forecasting and finding money

 Larry Tessler – Brings nearly 35 years experience as an executive in the merchandising, stores and advertising/sales promotion divisions. Work history includes a local department store chain, a national chain of promotional department stores, a local chain of video rental and music sales and 5 years starting and managing his own small business. Larry has a B.S. in Business Administration, University of California, Berkeley. Graduate studies in Marketing, San Francisco State.
