Using Open Educational Resources
to Promote Lifelong Learning:
Webinar (10/04/2019)

NEFLIN is bringing you an online workshop from the Florida State University School of Information's master's degree programs.

This workshop provides attendees with knowledge about using Open Educational Resources (OER) to promote lifelong learning. The high prices of textbooks may prevent libraries from purchasing textbooks for their patrons. However, many patrons outside of academia may be interested in continuing to learn. This workshop will show participants how to locate free, high-quality online textbooks from many disciplines and access learning materials to promote learning.

Jeff Phillips, the Social Sciences Librarian, and Amy Mosher, the Graduate Admissions Coordinator, will be there to share resources also available to students of FSU’s School of Information graduate degree programs. The presenters will also cover the degree programs at Florida State University including admission requirements, distance learning costs and financial aid availability.

Virtual Trainers: Jeff Phillips and Amy Mosher, Florida State University

Jeff Phillips is the Interim Director of Service Strategies and Social Sciences Librarian at Florida State University’s Strozier Library. He has worked at FSU Libraries since 2014, starting as a graduate student and then serving as the Student Success Librarian and Instruction & Learning Services Librarian. Jeff received his MS in Library and Information Studies and his MS in Instructional Systems and Learning Technologies from FSU. His positions have focused on many aspects of librarianship, including instruction, outreach, reference, and technical support. Jeff regularly teaches workshops on citation management, advanced database searching, and open educational resources (OERS).

Amy Mosher is the Graduate Admissions and Recruitment Coordinator for Florida State University’s School of Information. She works with prospective and incoming students for the Master of Science in Information (MSI), Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT), BSIT-MSIT Combined Pathway, Specialist in Information, Ph.D. in Information, and Graduate Certificate programs. Amy received her MS in Library and Information Studies and Specialist in Information from FSU.

This is an online class. Access information will be emailed one week ahead.
