AIA EKC Building Tour-Don Ball Hope Center

AIA East KY is pleased to offer our members an opportunity for continuing education (1 AIA LU) in conjunction with a tour of the Don Ball Hope Center.

In this program, Joey Nolasco, AIA of integrity/Architecture will guide attendees through the completed project and describe how this $7 million building provides comprehensive life-sustaining and rebuilding services to homeless an at-risk individuals. Learning objectives include:

  • Discuss how architects can achieve well-designed, energy-efficient buildings within tight budget constraints and how they can integrate to an existing building campus.
  • Discuss how building design might encourage interaction and foster relationships which help promote healthy and sustainable recovery.
  • Discuss and observe podium construction and examine its impact on design of mixed-use occupancy, mixed construction types, and sprinkler requirements.
  • Discuss how KHC financing and tax credits are leveraged along with private donations to fund low-income housing developments.

Additional Info:

Tenants will be occupying the building; however, they are accustomed to frequent visitors to the Hope Center Campus. We will tour at least one of the occupied apartments and all of the remainder of the facility.

Please join us and take advantage of all that this tour offers to see and learn. Click below to register today!
