AIA EKC Building Tour-Lexington Fire Station #24 

AIA East KY is pleased to offer our members an opportunity for continuing education (1 AIA LU) in conjunction with a tour of Lexington's new Fire Station #24.

In this program, Eric Chambers, AIA of Brandstetter Carroll Inc. will guide attendees through the completed project, reviewing the latest technology and equipment that firefighters utilize to provide the fastest response times and maintain personal safety. Attendees will observe areas for bunks, exercise, gear, de-con, dining, and day rooms to understand the daily routine and schedule of an active firefighter at this station. Learning objectives include:

• Discuss the partnership with the LFUCG Council and Lexington Fire Department in establishing the program, budget, and scope of work for a high-profile public service project. 
• Review the unique requirements for the overall design of a 21st century Fire Station.
• Discuss the challenges of design aesthetic and construction of an emergency response Fire Station set in a residential neighborhood.
• Observe the technology, personal safety equipment and vehicle apparatus utilized by the firefighters to respond to emergency situations.
