"Reconciliation - Restorative Justice"

Dear Sisters and Brother in Christ, 

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is a short four weeks away, but before we get there, we need to turn our attention to November’s presbytery meeting.  Now is the time to start registering for our gathering.  As we continue on our journey of Reconciliation, we turn to the issue of how restorative justice can be a tool for reconciliation, particularly in the church.  On Thursday, November 21^st, we will gather at Jerusalem Presbyterian Church in Wales to worship, listen, reflect, and conduct business as is appropriate.  Our speaker that day will be the Honorable Janine Geske, Distinguished Professor of Law at Marquette University and former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice.  Justice Geske will talk with us about restorative justice and how it can be practiced within our congregations.  As we come to the end of our year of presbytery meetings focusing on reconciliation, it is appropriate that we find ways to move our beliefs into practice, especially within the walls of our congregations.

Our agenda for the day will be:

• 3:30 pm First time orientation
• 3:50 pm Announcements

• 5 pm      Education time - The Honorable Janine Geske
• 6 pm      Dinner
• 7 pm      Worship

Please invite your friends, neighbors, and fellow Presbyterians (even if they aren’t going to be voting members) to learn about how we can practice reconciliation in our communities and congregations.  I encourage you to register soon so you are able to truly get into the spirit of Thanksgiving, knowing you will have the joy of being with fellow Presbyterians only a week beforehand.
