Join us on Thursday December 12th at the Francis Branch of the St. Joseph County Public Library as John Miller, CPA presents a workshop on Small Business Accounting 101.

Onsite Registration begins 5:30 PM

Workshop begins 6:00 PM

Topics that will be covered in this course:

  • Determine how to select the best legal structure for your business
  • Learn how to read a profit and loss statement
  • Determine the best accounting system for your business
  • Begin to understand income tax rules
  • Learn about gross margin and why it is important to understand
  • Learn about direct costs versus Selling, General & administrative costs
  • Learn the difference between earnings and cash flow

About the presenter:

John Miller graduated with honors from Western Michigan University with a B.A., Business and a major in Accounting.  He is both a CPA and CGMA.  John was employed in public accounting with PriceWaterhouseCoopers for 5 years before moving into the private sector as Chief Financial Officer for several companies.  For over 25 years, John has provided tax preparation services for individuals and corporations, consulted with small and medium sized business owners and provided small business accounting services.  Additional strengths include financial analysis, strategic planning, process improvement, problem solving, forecasting and cash flow management.
