Trauma informed practice and supervision from a diversity and inclusion lens is an approach that begins with the personal and extends to the professional. Personal histories, identities, characteristics and psychological experience of supervisors, as well as structural and environmental conditions of the organization, are considered in practice. This approach views the role of the supervisor as a leader in helping to promote inclusion and diversity in trauma impacted environments.

Who Should Attend:

Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors, Creative Arts Therapists, Marriage and Family Therapists, Supervisors

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will acquire and practice using a diversity and inclusion lens to understand how trauma, privilege and difference can manifest in how we communicate, supervise, and work with each other.
  • Participants will develop an awareness to the connection between the personal with the professional- in connecting how we show up at work and how we supervise.
  • Participants will be more prepared to facilitate an honest conversation, in your workplace, about trauma, diversity, inclusion, and equity dynamics in their interactions and relationships at work.
  • Participants will develop an understanding of the context and need for diversity/inclusion/equity in non-profits and corporate organizations and will deepen their commitment to being an on-going champion of diveristy, equity and inclusion.
