This workshop is designed for business owners having a minimal background in accounting and finance, Business Advisor Gary Brownlee will provide a basic overview of the purpose and structure of financial statements and how these can provide a framework for identifying the efficient use of cash. He will draw on his experience working with hundreds of business owners to identify examples of best practices and common errors in conserving or growing the cash position of the business. He will also touch on the role that cash flow plays in valuing a business and discuss analytical approaches employed to estimate business value.

Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC)
Gary is a Business Advisor for the Indiana Small Business Development Center based at the Purdue Technology Center in Crown Point. In this capacity he assists entrepreneurs and business owners with a wide range of financial matters, including business planning, capital raising and business valuation. He holds a BA in Economics and MBA in Finance, both from the University of Pittsburgh, and is an alumnus of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.
Prior to joining the ISBDC in 2012 Gary held a variety of finance and planning roles for the Bank of New York Mellon and GE Capital. He also served Indiana Federal Bank as its head of residential and consumer lending before co-founding New State Mortgage Company in 1997, a boutique mortgage lender operating in 10 states.
