Who should attend? Budding entrepreneurs and small business owners who want to explore the legal basics for their new or small businesses, find out about accounting methods and software and tax issues as well as the marketing and research capabilities of the Boise Public Library.

Legal Segment - A local business attorney will guide you through methods of organization, patents & copyrights, registering with the secretary of state and other legal rights and responsibilities of starting and owning a business.  You have responsibilities to a number of parties including state and federal government, your employees, your customers and vendors.  This section will help you get your legal questions answered.

 

Accounting Segment - A practicing CPA will guide you through the tax implications of choosing an entity type, the basics and implications of cash versus accrual accounting for your type of business, whether you need an EIN, types of corporations and accounting software packages.  Come with your questions!

 

Boise Library Segment -  Did you know that the library has a section that specializes in business information which can help you to research markets, customers and competition which is mandatory for creating a workable business plan?  The library has currently 14 local and national data bases that can help you research anything from business forms, to demographics and consumer data, to software programs, to investments.  A representative from the library will be there to guide you through the options and answer your questions.
