Why Should You Attend?

If you want to learn from the beginning how to set up a company, pay bills, invoice customers, reconcile your bank accounts and use QuickBooks as a tool to help manage your business.

How Are The Sessions Conducted?

Jim Heiting will be presenting the QuickBooks seminar. He has had 40 years in the financial career as a CFO/Controller with the final 25 ears in the Appleton division of a multi-billion international corporation. He also served in consulting, investing and ownership roles in multiple small company operations over the past 20 years. Jim was a past instructor for FVTC in accounting and spreadsheet classes. Mr. Heiting has degrees in Accounting (BBA) and Math (BS) from UW-Oshkosh.

There are four sessions total:

04/22/2020 Basics: Accounting Basics for QB, creating a company, navigating, preferences, entering customers and vendors, chart of accounts - setup, types and modifications.

04/29/2020 Expenses and Revenue: Adding and modifying vendor lists, entering expenses, paying bills, vendor transactions and balances, invoicing customers, recording payments received, customer transactions and balances, vendor and customer reports.

05/06/2020 Sales Tax, Journal Entries and Reports: Setup tax setup, invoicing with sales tax, journal entries - what are they, how are they used and how to record, categories and types of reporting, review of the dozens of reports in QB, reporting functions and features and report customization.

05/13/2020 General Review and Comprehensive Exercise: Short Q&A on first three classes and a class exercise that will have all students setting up a company, recording all major types of transactions and running basic reports. Will cover the entire accounting cycle.
