Family Engagement:   Communication and Culture

We know that meaningful family engagement has a positive impact on a child's learning and skill development. Educators and community providers are often not from the same cultural background as their students and families. This can lead to misinterpretations and misunderstandings with unintended consequences that negatively impact student outcomes. 

This training will introduce educators and community stakeholders to the concepts of communication and culture that impact our interactions with families. Participants will explore strategies that build positive relationships and effective collaboration to support student success.

Content for this training has been designed with administrators, teachers, pupil personnel staff, community providers, and other members of educational organizations and community agencies in mind.
