The Power of Three Webinar Series: Maximizing Business Engagement to Support Re-employment 

As the economy begins to reopen in the shadow of massive unemployment, the partnership between the public workforce system and the private business sector has never been more important. Join the executive directors of the California Workforce Association, Michigan Works! Association, and the New York Association of Training and Employment Professionals for a discussion and cross-state sharing on how local workforce boards can lead the charge by leveraging real-time business intelligence to create meaningful policy to get people back to work.

This event is designed for workforce board directors and business partners responsible for implementing employment solutions at the local level. Attendees will learn:

MEET THE TRAINERS

 

 Luann Dunsford, Michigan Works! Association

As the Chief Executive Officer of the Michigan Works! Association Luann Dunsford works closely with the Association’s private sector led Board of Directors to support its members and workforce partners by providing top-notch leadership resources, making valuable connections, and delivering high-impact events and training. Luann is a liaison between Association membership, key stakeholders and partners. She oversees all day-to-day operations of the Association and maintains a trusted, public portal of policy and information exchange.  Luann takes pride in, and has great respect for, the coordination, cooperation and commitment that is exemplified within Michigan’s workforce system - working towards one goal to break down barriers so that all can prosper. Her belief that much more can be accomplished when working together is the bedrock of the relationships she develops, and the foundation for leading coordinated workforce advocacy and education efforts nationally and within the state.  Luann enjoys an active lifestyle, and volunteering in her community. She is an active, practicing Catholic who leads a life of service and purpose.

Bob Lanter, California Workforce Association

Bob Lanter is currently the Executive Director of the California Workforce Association leading the way in workforce strategy and the implementation of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act for the state of California. Bob has worked almost two decades in the public sector and non-profit industry, with experience in the field of workforce development and job training. He has held various positions in local workforce investment systems from case manager to the Executive Director of the Contra Costa County Workforce Board. He gained national/federal experience working for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration as a Federal Project Officer. Before taking over as Executive Director at CWA, Bob owned and managed a national consulting practice where he and his team facilitated organizational retreats, team building meetings, strategic planning and assessment projects for local, state, and national workforce development, government and non-profit organizations. He also has developed and delivered training curriculum and keynote addresses in multiple topics of workforce development that have helped inspire thousands of professionals in the industry. He graduated from California State University, East Bay with a Bachelors Degree in Personnel Administration and Industrial Relations; additionally he is a Certified Master Facilitator from the Institute of Cultural Affairs.

Melinda Mack, NYATEP

Melinda Mack is the Executive Director of the New York Association of Training and Employment Professionals (NYATEP), a nationally recognized membership association in the field of workforce development. As a steadfast advocate and expert in system’s change; she champions the investment in and expansion of evidence-based practices to improve employment outcomes for New Yorkers; the use of data to drive decision-making; and for eliminating silos that deter from high quality services. Ms. Mack is a co-lead of the Invest in Skills NY initiative and campaign that successfully engaged the State in 2018 to invest more than $175 million in job training and workforce development. In her previous roles, Ms. Mack was the founding Director for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation program, Graduate NYC! and served as the acting Executive Director for the New York City Workforce Board under the Bloomberg Administration.
