Vera's career at the Timken Company consisted of 33 years spent in product engineering and eight and a half in corporate purchasing.
In 1984 a manager offered her an "opportunity" to volunteer on a board for a childcare center. This led to Vera working with and service as board chair for many agencies. She has served on the United Way board, YWCA board and multiple other community agencies.
