SCORE CLIENT: “I have a great idea and want to start a business that will fill a need and provide a needed product or service. But is it a nonprofit business or should I start a For Profit business? I am not sure how to approach this and which form of business would be best for me given what I am trying to accomplish with my idea and my own financial situation.”

This class will provide some necessary guidance in helping you to make your decision. When choosing between nonprofit or for profit oftentimes the decision needs to take into account many factors.

In helping you with your decision, we will also explore some differences in management style, structure of the businesses, founder skill set needs and funding opportunities (donations vs. investors).

About the Speaker:

Ray Noble

Ray Noble has developed and led strategic and business planning both at SCORE and throughout his career including nonprofits. As a CEO, he took his company to higher profitability and tripled sales. Ray is also a CPA and MBA. The combination of understanding good financial management and good business strategy will be a great benefit to your organization.
Ray has helped a variety of clients to start or improve their businesses. His background is broad and he has experience in marketing, sales, manufacturing, off shore ventures and sourcing, accounting, operations, and HR from his CEO days. Ray is also very involved at SCORE in the nonprofit business group where he has applied his strategic planning to achieve better results for many worthy causes. Ray has also aided nonprofits in obtaining 501(c)(3) certification and has helped clients understand the rules and the legal forms required for the process.
