River Tours Volunteer Training - Sumner Peck Ranch to Owl Hollow 

Join us for this 3.5 hour downriver trip/training from Sumner Peck Ranch to Owl Hollow to complete your River Tours Volunteer Training! At this training we will be going through a typical kayak tour from start to finish, including: check-in, vehicle and passenger shuttling, water safety information, kayaking basics, practicing driving with the kayak trailer, and completing a downriver trip.  This will be a kayak tour.  The trip will end at approximately 7:30 pm (but may take longer depending on river conditions, participant skill level, etc.). 

We will be meeting at the River Center (11605 Old Friant Rd) at 4:00 pm.  Please dress appropriately for a day on the water, including: a hat, sunscreen, clothing and shoes that can get wet (NO FLIP FLOPS! Sandals must have backs), a mask to have on hand, and a water bottle.  Please do not bring any electronics or valuables with you (the river has claimed many wedding rings over the years!).  We will have a dry bag for car keys and other small, essential items.

Volunteers assist with shuttling participants between the put-in and take-out points for each tour, loading and unloading the boat trailers, and group management on the water.  Volunteers are asked to commit to assist with at least one trip per month (though less trips may be assigned).  All volunteers must have a valid drivers license and their own vehicle (or access to a vehicle), be able to climb a ladder, and be able to lift 40 lbs.  During River Tours 2021, volunteers must be comfortable riding masked in a windows-down truck with an SJRPCT staff member or other volunteers for short periods of time. 

For this training, If possible register with a friend and each bring your own vehicles.  If an individual registration, please be aware you will need to ride in a vehicle with another volunteer or a staff member during the shuttling process.
