The 5^th grade child has reached a kind of developmental equilibrium often called the “golden age” of childhood. The 5th grade teacher strives to create space for a harmonious encounter between the students’ inner and outer worlds. Join us in this mutual exploration and actively creative endeavor!

During our afternoons we will have the opportunity to learn the disciplines of the Pentathlon; running, jumping, discus, javelin, and ring wrestling. Participants will be given the opportunity to experience these movements for themselves. Please come dressed to move in comfortable clothes and tennis shoes. Please bring water and sun protection.

Morning (Hybrid):

8:30-10:00am Teaching 5th Grade with Cesar 

10:00 - 10:30am Break

10:30 - 12:00pm  Teaching 5th Grade with Cesar

César Cázares taught in both public and private schools as a math-science high school teacher in Los Angeles before he joined Pasadena Waldorf School in 2010. He is currently leading a second class (Class of 2029) through the grades. He earned a B.S. from Cal Poly Pomona (Biology) and a Waldorf Teacher Certification from the Waldorf Institute of Southern California.

Katie Moran has over 20 years experience as a movement and dance teacher. Currently at the Austin Waldorf School, she is a certified PACT Pentathlon Trainer, a senior Spacial Dynamics Instructor, and mentor to movement teachers world-wide. She is also a graduate of the Waldorf Institute of Southern California. 

Course Fee: 

Teaching 5th Grade (Mornings, Hybrid):  $280

5th Grade Pentathlon (Afternoons, In Person): $75

Both Courses: $310
