Population, Health and Environment (PHE) is a strategic holistic approach for meeting people’s needs for health including family planning and reproductive health and maintaining restoring ecosystem services for greater environmental and social impact at multiple levels. In Africa where population growth continues to grow at one of the fastest rates in the world and where access to basic health services remains low for many communities. PHE projects have demonstrated benefits to conservation while improving family and community health and wellbeing. 

Please join us for a panel discussion on the benefits of Population, Health and Environment (PHE) approaches for Africa’s biodiversity conservation. Panelists include representatives from the Population Reference Bureau on world population trends with Africa specific demographic information, World Wildlife Fund Cameroon on PHE project lessons from the Lobeke National Park,  and ABCG PHE task members Conservation International, with World Wildlife Fund-US and the Jane Goodall Institute. 

By linking conservation, health and family planning activities, communities and policymakers can mitigate impacts and provide compensation for biodiversity loss to deliver positive conservation outcomes.
