Dan Quinlan is on a journey as a mystic-in-training at the Center for Action and Contemplation’s Living School. He's also a husband, and a father of two ambitious soon-to-be physicians. As Lumunos' Business and Operations Director, he works hard to find sustainable avenues for bringing our services to a wider audience. In his "spare" time, you'll find him fighting for policy change to address climate change, playing soccer, or backcountry skiing down the slopes in Vermont. He can be reached at dan@lumunos.org.

Betsy Perry describes herself as a reluctant mystic on an inner journey in the midst of everyday life. A wife, mother, grandmother, and retiree, Betsy has freedom to pursue her inner journey as a Spiritual Director and as a Kundalini Yoga Instructor. Her background as a nurse, teacher, and health care administrator informs her work now in retirement. Betsy is a former staff member of Lumunos. She can be reached at whatmatters.souljourney@gmail.com.

(A Monthly Drop-In Online Event)

Imagination—Can I Walk in the Shoes of Another?

The Wisdom of Dr. Catherine Meeks

Please join us this month as we learn about Dr. Catherine Meeks, a mystic and prophet for today sounding the call to racial justice. She is the Executive Director of the Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta. This month, Betsy will share her experience of hearing Dr. Meeks in person (before Covid) and twice since on Zoom. Betsy says, "Each time I hear or read Dr. Meeks' words, I am inspired and moved to love my neighbor in new ways. But I realize I must do some inner work first." Together we'll experience what it means to walk in the shoes of another and become a little more open to love.

Check out The Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing website
https://www.centerforracialhealing.org and read some of Catherine's blogs. Her bio reads like a great story, but it's real! There is also a powerful presentation and Q&A on YouTube from November 2021 that captures her inspiring message.

A mystic is an ordinary person who: 1) hears the call both to turn inward and to step up; 2) cultivates a contemplative life; and 3) offers the fruits in service to others. The framework for each session will be to explore a few of the main ideas each mystic focused on, and how those ideas might help us in our spiritual journeys. Each session will include a short accessible reading to help participants become familiar with key ideas. Personal reflection time, conversation with others, and ideas for contemplative practices will be woven into the sessions, providing opportunities to explore our own internal and external journey towards wholeness.

When: 2nd Wednesday of each month

Time: 7-9PM EST

Cost: $10 per session (We do not believe cost should be a barrier. For questions about scholarships, email becca@lumunos.org.)
