Please join the Presbytery of West Virginia for the November 12, 2022 Stated Presbytery Meeting at the Myles Center for the Arts at Davis & Elkins College. The meeting gives the Presbytery an opportunity to learn about and support the college. In addition to the afternoon's business, the morning's educational focus will be an exploration of the proposed amendments to the Presbyterian Church (USA)’s Constitution Part II The Book of Order. Voting on the amendments will take place in the afternoon. Voting on the proposed amendments is the opportunity for each church and minister member of Presbytery to influence the Presbyterian Church (USA).
The Presbytery is now providing an opportunity to engage in mission at each in-person Stated Presbytery Meeting, with each commissioner encouraged to bring an item designated by the host to benefit one of its missions. For the November 12 Stated Presbytery Meeting, D&E has requested hats and gloves/mittens for students in need.
Please remember that the presbytery no longer prints meeting packets except upon request. The packet will be emailed to those who receive our newsletter and posted on the presbytery website on November 2; you are strongly encouraged to either print a copy at home or download the packet in advance to view on your phone or tablet. If you wish to request a printed packet from the presbytery, please contact the office by November 9.
The lunch menu for the meeting is boxed lunches of a sandwich (chicken salad croissant, turkey wrap, or sauteed vegetable sandwich), fruit, chips, a cookie, and bottled water. Coffee, tea, and light refreshments will be available in the morning.
Presbytery will honor the normal $10 lunch fee and subsidize any additional costs; anyone who chooses to do so can pay the full price of $13. Please note that due to increased fees, advance lunch payment through Paypal will not be available. You must pay at the door with cash or a check made out to Presbytery of WV.
Unfortunately, at this meeting, childcare is not available. Please contact the Stated Clerk with any childcare concerns.
The night before the meeting, Davis & Elkins will be hosting a free lecture with Dr. C. Alexis Decosimo, a global art therapist and public health professional. Anyone choosing to come early to the Presbytery meeting is invited to attend.
The deadline for advance registration is Thursday, November 3. It is important to register in advance so that lunch will be available for you. Ministers and churches who need to request an excused absence should contact the presbytery office directly at office@wvpresbytery.org or 304-744-7634.
