What Is Your Family Business Worth? A Panel Presentation on Family Business Valuation
7:30 – 9:30 am Banquet Rooms A & B, Curtiss Hall, SVSU Light Continental Breakfast will be served.
To the owner, their family business may be priceless. However, there are times when having a realistic understanding of the true dollar value of a family business’s worth is useful or even necessary.
During this panel presentation, representatives from five of the Stevens Center for Family Business Sponsor Firms will provide a comprehensive overview of what business valuation is all about, especially as pertains to family-owned enterprises.
They will discuss the topic from a variety of perspectives, and include information on the purpose of a valuation; why one should be done; the documents and data that are evaluated; how to evaluate a potential appraiser; and many more considerations that go into the valuation process. Their presentation will include factors that could reduce the value of a business, as well as how these risks can be mitigated.
