For The Light We Carry, Michelle Obama has drawn from her experiences as a mother, a daughter, a friend as well as a first lady. These have helped shape some of the habits that have helped her overcome the struggles in her life. She offers the instruments in her toolbox for overcoming hard times with personal stories from the past and present. She believes that when we find and shine our own light, we can better forge ahead to face challenges and speak our truths.
