Registration is now open for the 2023 Public Health Leaders Summit!

Join fellow NYSACHO members and colleagues at the beautiful Harbor Hotel in Watkins Glen, New York for NYSACHO's premier leadership event for local Commissioners and Public Health Directors in New York State!

The Annual Summit spans from October 3rd to October 5th and is exclusively open to Commissioners and Public Health Directors or designated deputy-level staff. Please note that Summit registration is limited to one person per county.

This year the Summit includes an in-person seminar and networking event on October 3rd, 2023, specificially designed for new LHD leadership. 

The Summit continues October 4th & 5th with NYSACHO’s full membership. Virtual attendance is available for the full membership portion of the Summit. 

Schedule:

October 3rd, 2023: Pre-Conference New Commissioner/Director Integration Seminar and Networking Event (In-Person Only)

  • CDC Led Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication (CERC)
  • Networking

This New Commissioner/Director Seminar is intended for commissioners/directors appointed in 2022 or 2023 who have not previously served as a local health official in another county (including interim appointees). Attending the virtual Part 1 CERC training on September 26th is recommended (more information coming soon).

October 4th-5th: Full Membership

Summit sessions include:

  • Pre-Summit New Commissioner/Director Integration Seminar (open to all members): Local Health Department Authorities and Enforcement Powers
  • Frameworks Workshop: Communicating The Value Of Public Health And Framing Contested Public Health Topics In Ways That Build Trust And Foster Dialogue.
  • NYSDOH Updates
  • Public Health: National Updates (NACCHO and CDC leadership invited)
  • Beyond the Buzzwords: How to Talk about Diversity and Inclusion
  • NYSACHO Members Only Meeting

Overnight Accommodations & Meals: 
NYSACHO will cover the cost of 2 overnights for each county (One room per county per night.) Meals are included in the Summit and will be provided at the hotel.

Our room block is almost filled! Anyone that registers after our room block is filled will be put in an offsite overflow property. The room block deadline is September 1st. Anyone that registers after the deadline or after our room block is filled, cannot be guaranteed a room.

Check Out: 11:00 am 

Fees:
There are no fees to attend this event unless you choose to stay an extra night, bring an additional staff member, or a personal guest.

Cancellation Policy:
All overnight room cancellations must be sent to Laura Gibson 1 week prior to your arrival date, and within work hours (M-F, 8:00-4:00 pm). Any late cancellations may result in a $229-$259 charge.
