Join us for the Parks and Natural Areas Roundtable on Monday, September 11. This meeting will be in person only. There is no online component.

We will hear from guest speakers, discuss the Parks and Natural Area Awards, and learn about the Fall Field Trip in Galveston.

The focus of the meeting will be prairies, and conversation topics may include:

  • Overall Importance and Benefits of Prairies
  • Preservation and Restoration 
  • Methods Used to Restore Prairies in an Urban Environment
  • Best Management Practices for Landowners
  • Funding Sources
  • Implementation Tools
  • Prairies as Placemaking
  • Managing Expectations
  • Communicating About Prairies to the Public and Decision-Makers

The Parks and Natural Areas Roundtable serves as a forum for discussion of issues related to parks and natural areas and promotes the annual Parks and Natural Areas Award Program. The Roundtable facilitates information exchange and planning efforts between various stakeholders and collaborators to protect and preserve parks and natural areas across the region.

The Roundtable meets the second Monday of  July and September, with field trips in the spring and fall and an awards recognition ceremony in February. The group is open to anyone interested in participating.
