Building a Robust, Inclusive, and Effective Health Advocacy Ecosystem: Webinar March 18

At Interact for Health, we believe that people deserve a just opportunity to live their healthiest lives, regardless of who they are or where they live. To achieve lasting impact requires changing the policies that affect people’s health, well-being and quality of life.

In Spring 2023, Interact for Health commissioned a study to better understand the current landscape of health policy and advocacy at the local-level in Greater Cincinnati as well as at the state-level in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. Almost 100 organizations responded to a survey conducted by Innovation Network

We invite you to join this webinar as we share key findings from the assessment, make meaning of them together, and envision what it might take to build a robust, inclusive, and effective health advocacy and policy ecosystem. We will examine the current realities and areas of opportunity centered around four key questions:

  • Who is in the health advocacy and policy ecosystem? Who are the people and groups that make up this ecosystem? What diverse skills, capacities and focuses do they bring to the table?
  • How does the ecosystem engage communities and populations? To what extent and in what ways are communities and people who experience the greatest injustices in health outcomes centered in advocacy and policy efforts?
  • How does the ecosystem work? What advocacy and policy change strategies and tactics are being used across the ecosystem?
  • How does the ecosystem work together? How are organizations within the ecosystem connected and collaborating?

Speakers:

Ashlee Young, Vice President of Policy and Engagement at Interact for Health

Kelley Adcock, Senior Director of Data and Learning at Interact for Health

Cory Georgopoulos, Associate at Innovation Network

A couple of organizations that engage in health policy advocacy and took the survey will share their reflections in a conversation with Megan Folkerth, Program Director of Health Policy and Systems at Interact for Health, and Sonya Carrico, Program Director of Mental Health Policy.
