Nov 7: Shakespeare, Identity, and Religion

Research into the life of Oxford philosopher and double agent William Sterrell has revealed a neglected group of Catholics at and around the courts of Queen Elizabeth and King James in the early 17th century. The presence of these crypto-Catholics lends a new understanding of Shakespeare’s works and contemporary audience.
