Bel Canto - Rossini's "Semiramide"

Bel Canto – “beautiful singing” --  a naive definition for singing that is nuanced in its style and technique and, depending upon the composer, variable in its characteristics.  Composers Bellini, Donizetti and Rossini are associated with this style of singing – one in which the emphasis is placed on the voice as opposed to on the orchestra.
