To Get There:

  • From North: I -55 South. Exit at 98B for IL-97 W/Clear Lake Ave. Merge onto IL-97 N/ E. Clear Lake Ave. Clear Lake becomes Jefferson Ave. Follow to 2nd Street. Turn left (south) on 2nd. State Library is across the street from the Capitol Building on the SE corner of Monroe and 2nd St. Enter the Library from the north entrance and go through security.

  • From South: I-55 North. Keep left to continue on I-55 Bus.N. follow signs for I-55 N/ 6th Street/Interstate; 72/W Jacksonville. Continue onto 6th Street to Cook Street. Turn left. Turn right onto 2nd St. State Library is 2 blocks north across from the Capitol Building on the SE corner of Monroe and 2nd St. Enter the Library from the north entrance and go through security.


  • On street parking with meters so bring quarters. Limited parking at Capitol Visitor Parking Lot (drive on Second Street to Edwards turn west drive through 2 traffic lights). The lot is in the middle of the next block on the right. Other Parking: Parking ramp on the corner of 4th and Washington St. ($5 day)

Additonal Information:

  • Lunch is on your own. Cafeteria in basement of Stratton Building—the large building west of the Capitol Building. Also close by Boone’s Saloon—301 West Edwards.

  • Registration deadline is Sunday, April 8, 2018.

  • Meeting room is on the fourth floor of the State Library.

  • Everyone will have to go through security as they enter the Capitol. May need driver’s license or photo ID.

  • Wear comfortable shoes!

  • TASKS TO DO BEFORE ADVOCACY DAY 1) Review the webex "2018 Orientation to Advocacy Day" 2) Contact your legislator for an appointment on Advocacy Day after 11:30 pm 3) Review the bills targeted for Advocacy Day at (these bills are selected based on their content and progress.
