2018 Columbus Mini Conference

A one day conference exploring the social & emotional needs of the gifted. Topics include, but are not limited to: supporting twice-exceptional students, empathy, mental health, gifted literary characters, using creativity as a window, facilitating dialogues, gratitude & growth, and what to do when a gifted student struggles in mastery learning.

ADD-ON: SMPG Facilitator Training (August 10)

SENG Model Parent Groups (SMPGs) are structured to bring together 10 to 20 interested parents of gifted and talented children to discuss such topics as motivation, discipline, stress management, and peer relationships in 6-8 week sessions. The co-facilitators of this group are knowledgeable about parenting and educating gifted children; however they do not attempt to give expert advice. Instead, their facilitation provides a non-judgmental and nurturing atmosphere.

ADD-ON SMPG Discussion Experience (August 10)

This SENG Model Parent Group Discussion Experience is on Friday, August 10, 6-8:30 PM. SMPG trainees do not need to register for this group discussing the complexities of parenting gifted children, including topics of motivation, discipline, stress management, peer relations, sibling rivalry, and communication. Regular guided discussion groups for parents of gifted or twice exceptional children are molded to the needs of our community. They can span eight weeks and have up to 18 participants.
