Cumberland Arts Festival 2018 Plein Air Competition

In tribute to the 10th anniversary Cumberland Arts Festival, 8/18/2018, a Plein Air Competition is being held to honor "Ten Worthy Places" within the historic Town of Cumberland, IN.

Agreement

  • Artists' Terms of Agreement - Artists will: 1. Complete Assigned "Worthy Place" artwork (list, location and photo of all Ten Worthy Places is online.) 2. Turn in one or two completed, framed and ready to be hung artworks by Aug. 10, 2018, 3 p.m. to Cumberland Arts, Inc. at Cumberland First Baptist Church, 116 S. Muessing Street, Cumberland, IN 46229. Work to be in a two-dimensional medium on a 16"x20" maximum canvas. All work to be completed en plein air without assistance of photography.) 3. Attend festival day and be present for the awards ceremony at 1 p.m. and sale to follow.* 4. Agree to have art displayed within the Town of Cumberland (art can be sold on display.) 5. Agree to a retail price commensurate with your normal pricing structure. 6. A 25% commission on all sold works will be retained by Cumberland Arts, Inc. 7. All sales will be handled by Cumberland Arts, Inc. 8. Allow images of artwork entered in the competition to be used by Cumberland Arts, Inc. for publicity purposes.

  • * The Plein Air painters are asked to attend the event so that there is a celebratory atmosphere at the Plein Air display, with interaction between the festival visitors and the artists. There is also the hope that attendance by the artists will promote the sale of the artwork. However, we understand that circumstances and distance could prevent attendance on event day.

    Not Required - but if you would like full booth space at Cumberland Arts Festival, you can register as an art vendor and rent a 10 x 10 booth space. All Vendors are expected to stay through the end of the festival hours. (9AM-4PM) Vendors are expected to supply their own tables, chairs and tents, if desired. Unloading and booth set-up will be between 6:00 and 8:45AM. Tear-down cannot begin before 4:00PM. Vendors who do not comply may not be able to register for subsequent years.

    Artists' Terms of Agreement

    If you rent additional 10 x 10 booth space, All work must be hand-made, hand-crafted, original, in good taste, reflect quality and integrity of materials, or be from an arts-related business or non-profit, or otherwise adhere to booth and vendor guidelines. Our intention is to provide a layout that is not weighted in one medium or another by only bringing items you mention on this form, or consult with Program Chair for additions. No direct sales consultants permitted.

    Indiana sales tax is the responsibility of the vendor. Smoking and vaping is not permitted in booths or on festival grounds. Due to food safety regulations, NO FOOD ITEMS may be sold by vendors who have not registered separately as a food vendor and obtained the necessary permit(s). The festival will occur rain or shine. No refunds will be given for inclement weather or acts of God. WIFI is unfortunately NOT available due to safety and logistical reasons out of Cumberland Arts’ control.

    CUMBERLAND ARTS, INC. SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INJURY OR LOSS OF ITEMS THAT ARISE OR COME TO THE LESSEE OR HIS EMPLOYEES OR PERSONNEL OR HIS GOODS FROM ANY CAUSE WHATEVER WHILE SAID PREMISES ARE BEING OCCUPIED UNDER THIS AGREEMENT. I HAVE READ, UNDERSTAND AND WILL COMPLY WITH ALL PROVISIONS AND POLICIES OFTHIS APPLICATION. I UNDERSTAND THAT ANY VIOLATION MAY RESULT IN MY DISMISSAL WITH NO REFUNDS. I HAVE READ THE ABOVE APPLICATION AND UNDERSTAND ITS RULES AND REGULATIONS.

    Artists who are unable to attend festival day must alert Cumberland Arts by August 10, 2018.

    Cumberland Arts, Inc. reserves the right to cancel the event due to insufficient entries and refund the registration fee in full.

If you rent vendor booth space - Limited Electricity Available

Electrical outlets are available in a few key locations. For a booth that is close to an electric outlet, there is an additional $20 fee. These locations are available on a limited, first come, first served basis. The vendors must provide their own 100 ft. 150 gauge extension cord.
