Fall 2019 Accessibility and Accommodations Training

  • NOTE: These one-day training sessions are intended for Special Education Teachers, Special Education Department Chairs, and Student Services Coordinators (SSCs). Training participants will learn about the appropriate use of accessibility supports in classroom instruction and assessment. Current accessibility supports available for state testing will also be reviewed along with processes for documenting student designated supports and accommodations in IEP, 504, and ELL records.

Training Dates

    Please register for the training date specific to your district, as indicated in the options below. The East Hawaii, Leeward (9/24), Maui, Central, and Honolulu (10/3) training dates are now CLOSED due to space limitations at the training sites. Please email Emily MacGillivray at emacgillivray@air.org for more information.

  • The East Hawaii (Hilo) training will be held at the Grand Naniloa Hotel Hilo Hawaii Bay, located at 93 Banyan Drive in Hilo.

  • The West Hawaii (Kona) training will be held at the Hilton Waikoloa Village located at 69-425 Waikoloa Beach Drive in Waikoloa.

  • The two Leeward trainings will be held at KROC Center Hawaii, located at 91-3257 Kualakai Parkway in Ewa Beach.

  • The Kauai training will be held at the Wilcox Elementary School ITC, located at 4319 Hardy Street in Lihue.

  • The Maui training will be held at Puunene School, located at E Camp 5 Road in Puunene.

  • The Central and Windward trainings will be held at the Ko'olau Ballrooms and Conference Center, located at 45-550 Kionaole Road in Kaneohe.

  • The two Honolulu trainings will be held at Kaimuki High School, located at 2705 Kaimuki Avenue in Honolulu.

  • NOTES ON TRAVEL: Molokai and Hana participants are encouraged to register for the training session on Maui, however, if more convenient, these individuals may register for one of the Honolulu training sessions on Oahu. Lanai participants should register for one of the Honolulu training sessions on Oahu. Participants from Molokai, Hana, and Lanai will be contacted by AIR after their registration has been processed and approved for the training to make travel arrangements.

    The training agenda will include a working lunch. Please let us know if you require a vegetarian lunch option. For other restricted dietary needs and/or food allergies, please contact Danny Jimenez at djimenez@air.org. Please note that AIR will communicate these requests to each training venue as appropriate but we cannot guarantee all dietary requests will be honored.
