2021 STA Hiker Challenge Registration Section 2 - Charit Lodge Trail Head to Peter's Mountain

The 2021 Hiker Challenge continues in February as we head south from Charit to Peter's Mountain. 28 miles and the path takes you zip zagging across the BSF past historic markers like Maude's Crack, No Business, John Muir Overlook, and Charit Lodge. Saturday night campsite is deep in woods off Divide Road.

  • Section 2 : Data Check - Start Point - Charit Creek Lodge Parking Lot - End Point - Peter's Mountain Distance- 28 Miles Friday Night Campout: We encourage you if you can to book a room at one of the local hotels in the area. If you wish to camp in the area there is space at Great Meadows Campground for a small fee which you will have to pay on site, free camping in limited capacity at Peter's Mountain. You are not able to camp at Divide Road due to very limited parking. Please do not attempt. Your vehicle may be towed and we are not responsible. Shuttle: Due to large number of hikers there will be 2 shuttle pick up times-6:00 am or 7:30 am at Peter's Mountain. Please make sure you lock your vehicle and take your keys. 5 lb drop - The drop of extra cold weather gear, your tent, etc up to 5 lbs is in effect from Jan to April.

  • Disclaimer: SHUTTLE ASSIGNMENTS AND TEAM ASSIGNMENTS ARE LIMITED AND ARE FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. Register early in order to secure your place. Fees are NONREFUNDABLE. Liability Waiver and Media Release must be on file for 2021 to participate. They can be downloaded from sheltoweetrace.org The STA reserves the right to postpone a hike and will do all we can to notify participants of a change. Monitor your email and the Facebook site for any changes. Make sure your photo is sent to 606 386 3636 before the first hike. Covid temp check will be done before you get on shuttle. Mask are required. Vaccination for covid highly recommended.

Section One Declarations

  • There will be two shuttle times on Saturday morning, both early. We recommend you come in on Friday since it is a long drive for most participants. When will you be arriving?

  • This year, at least for the moment, you can choose from 4 teams. It is possible to switch between teams as long as there is a place available. Team sizes are limited. See additional information later in the registration. Which team will you be hiking with for Section One?

  • Please designate which shuttle you will be taking on the weekend of your hike. The section labeled "ITEMS FOR SALE" IS WHERE YOU SELECT THE SHUTTLE TIME YOUR WISH TO DEPART. Space is limited so make your choice now.
