Quilting Workshop: Machine Stitched Applique

We will use basic machine applique, with the words Live, Laugh, and Love to create a 12” x 12” project. You can make a pillow cover, a wall hanging or a table topper. After the applique process is taught, we will quilt and bind the pillow top/wall hanging/table topper.

Required Materials List

  • • Fabric, washed and ironed: (3 different background fabrics each cut 4½” x 13” and 3 contrasting fabrics for the letters)

  • • Thread to match the fabrics

  • • HeatnBond Lite – a 10” x 10” piece is enough.

  • • Fabric for the back: If making a pillow cover, you’ll need one piece 12½” x 6½”, and one 12½” x 10”. If making a wall hanging or table topper, you’ll need one piece of fabric cut 15” x 15”.

  • • Fabric for the binding: 2¼” x 62”

  • • 15” x 15” batting

  • • Iron and ironing board or pad

  • • Ruler, pins, scissors, sewing machine with zigzag or blanket stitch

  • • Letter templates will be included in the instructions.

Optional Materials List:

  • • 12”x12” pillow form, if making the pillow

  • • 15” X 15” muslin piece if making a pillow

  • • Painters tape for help with quilting
