In 1860 New York’s highest court, The Court of Appeals, upheld a petition for the release of 8 enslaved people brought here by Virginians Jonathan & Juliet Lemmon on their way to Texas. Join the discussion of this celebrated case that brought up hard questions about slavery within the U.S. and challenged slavery laws between the north and south.
