The wetland is the ideal habitat for our eight-legged friends! Younger students will learn about these creatures, take a walk on the boardwalk to search for arachnids and then built a web to take home! The older age group will delve into arachnid physiology and the ecological importance of these amazing invertebrates.

Thur Oct 12 2023-Indigenous People of the Trinity River
Trinity River was called the River of Canoes for a reason! Students will learn about the indigenous peoples of this area as we walk to the Trinity River. During the class both age groups will be in one class group. This is the only class that is not accessible by walkers or wheelchairs.

Students will learn the answer the question: Why do the leaves change color in the Fall? The purpose and types of leaves will be discussed, and the students will take a walk on the boardwalk to collect a variety of leaves at the wetland. The older group will delve into leaf structure and anatomy.

What do molds, yeasts, and mushrooms all have in common? They are all fungi! Students will get to examine several types of mushrooms and learn how fungi are an important part of our ecosystem. The older group will delve into the symbiotic and parasitc nature of fungal organisms.

The wetland is home to a pair of breeding American Bald Eagles! This class includes a trek to the Eastern edge of the property where we will have our telescope on the eagle nest. Both age groups will be together for this class.
