In the ancient world, iconographers wrote icons from the depth of prayer. In turn the icons became "windows of heaven" for future generations. In the middle ages, monastics perfected the art of illumination drawing on a lifetime of prayer and meditation and thus became a source of contemplation for the faithful. Today our world is saturated with images fantastic and mundane, artistic and casual, conveying messages intentional and perhaps unintentional.
-When you see what you see, how do you see it? -What influences your seeing and ultimately your understanding of what you see? -How many ways can one see anything?
Join us for our Lenten retreat as Sister Ana Cloughly helps us to answer these questions and leads us in Visio Divina with a variety of images from the past and present.
