I liked all the things that we got to do, like draw pictures and thinking of news articles.”

Dear Friend of Healthy NewsWorks,

When Jayvyn’s fifth grade teacher first told him about Healthy NewsWorks, the hard-working student wasn’t so sure he wanted to be involved.

Working on the staff of the William Rowen Healthy Roar during the past school year turned out to be really rewarding. “I liked all the things that we got to do, like draw pictures and thinking of news articles,” he said. “I learned new, interesting things. I got to meet new people. It’s fun!”

Please join our Fall 2021 Campaign to give more students like Jayvyn the opportunity to be health reporters.

What the student reporters say

“I learned that I actually have a lot of potential to become a writer or interviewer." —Eighth grader

“I learned that it’s okay to be shy sometimes but sometimes we have to get out of our shells.” —Fifth grader

“I loved the newspaper. I loved the teachings. In the healthy newspaper, I felt like I was saving the world. Doing facts was the best part. It was so fun doing the interviews.” —Fourth grader
