Kate Shela
"If I didn't define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people's
fantasies for me and eaten alive."
-- AUDRE LORDE
Welcome to a broth to awaken your senses and the unravelling travelling part of your psyche that flows. Melt into a pot of bone beats and witnessing wisdom. This is a place to discover our similarities and differences; a woman only space. We come together to allow ourselves to be vulnerable, new, raw, wild and ancient. To be honest, queer, ordinary and extraordinary. To be butch, feminine and other. Find your place in the mix.
Kate will guide you through the 5Rhythms Waves and Heartbeat map encouraging you to dive beneath the surface of your day to day behaviour to see what lies beneath.
The intention of the Heartbeat map is to expand our physical and emotional vocabulary by consciously calling in with kindness: Fear, Anger, Sadness, Joy and Compassion. Trusting the practice of the 5Rhythms we will explore and embody the shapes of our heart. Old feelings that have been jammed down into our joints or forgotten in our chest begin to soften as they are shaped, experienced and gracefully understood. We will get comfortable with feelings: feelings about being a woman and feelings about being human. Neither holding on to them, nor pushing them away. Like private detectives we will investigate the places where we may be fixed or frozen to make space for a more fluid relationship with our emotions releasing long held patterns, dancing towards healing and embodied peace.
By moving into the depths of our heart we learn that our emotions are vital life essence required for us all to be whole human beings, living and breathing with a spontaneous heart.

"Dance is a physical and spiritual liberation. With Kate Shela, the practice of the 5Rhythms is elevated to the realm of the shamanic, and the feeling after each class is nothing less than profound transformation."
