Changing Habits for Good
Self help books and many counseling approaches are set up to fail because they don’t take into account three critical factors regarding how to make lasting personal changes:
1) How long it truly takes to change a habit (according to the actual research),
2) The 3 components of a habit (people usually try to change the wrong one)
3) Understanding that willpower is an exhaustible resource so must be examined and problem-solved before taking on any new change
Goals:
1. Participants will learn the clear approach for making changes that stick in the long-term. by understanding the components of change and willpower.
2. Participants will be able to utilize this simple approach with themselves as well as their clients to create lasting change in their lives.
Objectives:
1. Participants will utilize the 3-pronged habit approach to address one habit they wish to change in their own lives.
2. Participants will analyze their current life circumstances and identify two willpower increasers for themselves
3. By demonstrating how to use the habit approach with themselves, they will identify ways to apply these techniques to their work with clients
